Unexpected Move to a Hotel

This past week was kind of unexpected, we were planning on being in Texas for about another month. Then into hotels sometime in October, which meant we could enjoy our pool days just a little longer. Yay! But we got a text saying that the market has dried up where we were at so we’d be in hotels in New Mexico in a week. Normally we try to get everything ready or planned out how we’ll are going to pack it all ahead of time. Not this time. We tried to soak in every minute of the pool and having a separate room for Kenz to sleep in. So of course we waited til last minute and we packed everything on Sunday. The car was loaded to the brim and absolutely no space, clothes were still in the dryer and I needed to return some things because we simply couldn’t fit all of our stuff. I returned all the things and picked up a pizza on the way back to get the fam and load up the car.

The drive was a whole different story. Ken wanted to drive because he hadn’t all summer, and good thing because he wouldn’t have fit in the passenger seat because there was no leg space. I sat criss cross applesauce with a pizza box in my lap and played DJ for the ride. Kennedy fell asleep pretty quick but you could tell she felt really blocked in and was really hot. Our car doesn’t have rear ventilation and even her little fan didn’t help much, so she screamed the last 30 minutes. There were pretty bad dust storms and the smell of sulfur was very strong, maybe it was more like dirty diaper smell in a hot car. Anyway it felt like a really long drive (actually 2 hours but the situation obviously made it worse) but we had some good laughs over the smells. We didn’t get there as late as we thought we were going to, thank you time change! Kennedy was excited to explore our room, which really is very tiny so it was pretty quick exploring.

Now we have been here for 5 days and already decided this hotel life is not for families. It is really hard having babies sleep in the same room you are trying to make dinner in, and get ready for bed in. Kennedy also takes up more than half of our king size bed because she of course has to sleep horizontal. She really is making the most of it and out of all her favorite toys that she has here the room a/c unit is her favorite. We have been eating a whole lot of junk, and spending way more than needed on food. Thats just life when you are in a hotel with a mini fridge, and microwave.

With everything considered Kennedy and I are moving home next week, to move us into our new place while Ken stays out here with his team for another month or so. Its definently not ideal, but thats our plan and how we will survive without each other is going to be so dang hard. So lets just hope Kennedy starts walking before we leave or not until Ken gets home.... We‘ll see how that goes.

So for the next little bit it will be just the two of us ... I don’t know how we will do it because Kennedy cries every time Ken leaves for work, its gonna be a long month.
